I’m having a smidge of a dilemma.
I wish to own all the Harry Potter novels in pristine hardcover editions that no one, aside from myself, shall ever touch ever. My paperback are all falling apart at this point because I’ve leant them to various people over the years, and they don’t take care of them. Dog-earers have a special place waiting for them in Hell.
Anyway, I cannot decide between a boxset of the U.K. versions or the U.S. versions.
The U.S. copies have such wonderfully illustrated covers and chapter art and they’re just all around beautiful. But I’m also a major anglophile, and have grown up reading the U.K. editions, and so would feel somewhat treacherous if I didn’t buy those ones.
Fuckin’ nerd problems, man.
Edit: At everyone’s insistence, I will be getting both sets, once the appropriate fundage presents itself. Happy days, and thank you!

I’d go UK, as they would probably be a bit more special to you, but it is your decision! :)

I don’t see why you couldn’t start a collection of both.

ugh, lending books to people is terrible because on one hand you want to be like “HERE, READ THIS SO YOU CAN LOVE IT LIKE I DO AND WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT” but then they always come back slightly fucked up. there’s no winning. also; get both, obviously!
